MOXI's mission is to ignite learning through interactive experiences in science and creativity. As Santa Barbara’s newest hands-on destination for families and curious minds of all ages, MOXI is a place where you can explore and discover new things about the world around you, ask questions, seek answers and have a blast doing so.
Why We're Green
With a mission to ignite learning through interactive experiences in science and creativity, MOXI, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation is committed to integrating solutions-oriented, sustainable practices both operationally and educationally in order to serve as a model for sustainability. After years of dedicated planning, procurement, and collaborative design and construction, MOXI achieved Gold Certification under the LEED for New Construction v2009 rating system. The facility implements many high performing strategies including efficient lighting and daylighting strategies, highly efficient HVAC systems, and ultra-low use water fixtures. This commitment to our environment is further reflected in our exhibits and education programs, for example we strive to use best practices for reducing waste when installing or fabricating new exhibits, many program materials are recyclable or reusable.
