Dandy Fine Goods is a solo woman-owned, disability-owned business offering handcrafted jewelry and gifts. The materials for crafting these items are primarily sourced from vintage and discarded materials. In addition to rekindling the light of our inner child, the heart of my business is focused on giving back at every turn:
- Small-batch, 100% handmade approach that praises quality over quantity.
- Breathing new life into items that would likely end up in a landfill.
- Careful selection of ethically-sourced materials and collaboration with local and/or marginalized suppliers (e.g., the supplier of about 90% of my beads is a disabled U.S. Army veteran and his family who run a full-time business together).
- “Give where you live” approach: A healthy portion of my profits goes to vetted, local organizations that have the greatest direct impact on our neighbors.
Why We're Green
I am new to Colorado and currently pursuing certification. Due to the nature of my creations, which are all made by hand in the comfort of my home or outside in fresh air, I do not require any tools that require electricity, water, gas, or the like. I only use non-powered tools (e.g., pliers, wire cutters, etc.) as I create beaded jewelry and gift items using vintage and used glass beads and charms. The greatest environmental challenges I face are related to the carbon footprint involved in obtaining my supplies, some of which are sourced through vintage/used listings on eBay and other e-commerce sites, and may require shipment across state lines. Additionally, a portion of my materials (e.g., jewelry findings, metal components for other products, tools) comes from e-commerce sites, often requiring shipment across state lines. To mitigate these, I have begun sourcing from local, affordable vendors and aim to buy out my main supplier of vintage beads for one last out-of-state shipment.
