Marin's first used bookshop for kids and teens, ages 0–16. Every book on our shelves was contributed by the community. Our first location focuses on kids and teens — with an all-ages store in the works. We accept book contributions when we are open.
Why We're Green
The Phoenix Used Bookshop was built green from the ground up — our biggest challenge wasn't overcoming old habits, it is proving that a reuse-first business model could work as a viable retail operation. Every book on our shelves is contributed by the community, which means zero new production, zero publisher shipping, and zero inventory waste. In our first three months, we diverted over 15,000 books from Marin's waste stream. The challenge we face daily is managing the sheer volume of books that come in — 320 million books are landfilled in the United States every year, and our community alone produces more surplus books than a single store can absorb, but we are determined to keep books in the hands of readers of Marin!
