Why We're Green
To achieve certification, we minimize our environmental footprint by buying recycled content paper and plastics and optimizing our energy efficiency measures. Our facility underwent a comprehensive water and energy efficiency upgrade and we earned EPA Energy Star. We installed low-flow water faucets and automated flush toilets. Recognizing Nevada's arid climate, we planted xeriscape landscaping, using native cacti and SNWA approved drought-tolerant bushes.
We installed LED lighting, daylighting light switch sensors to maximize natural light. To mitigate heat gain from the sun, we applied window tint with a low Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) and upgraded our roof insulation to an R-50. We painted the Hale Safety Building white to maximize solar heat reflectance, further reducing cooling demands and energy consumption.
These facility upgrades demonstrate our dedication to environmentally responsible and sustainable best praproactively addressed potential operational inefficiencies.
