About
The Ron Finley Project is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to transforming neglected urban landscapes into abundant, regenerative gardens — starting in South Los Angeles and expanding outward. Born from the conviction that access to fresh, nutritious food is a basic right, our work reclaims strips of unused public land, vacant lots, and curb-spaces and turns them into vibrant community hubs where food is grown, shared, and celebrated. Through workshops, volunteer “dig-ins”, youth education, and community-driven design, we build not just gardens but culture, connection and empowerment for neighborhoods long treated as food deserts.
Why We're Green
The Ron Finley Project is green because we grow more than food—we grow sustainability, resilience, and community. By transforming unused urban spaces into thriving gardens, we reduce waste, improve air quality, and bring fresh produce closer to home. Our regenerative practices restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and lower the heat island effect in city neighborhoods. We also educate residents on composting, water conservation, and eco-friendly gardening, empowering people to live more sustainably. For us, being green means creating lasting change for both people and the planet.
