About
Elder-Well Adult Day Program is a social-model adult day center in Santa Monica that provides structured daytime care, engagement, and support for older adults, including those experiencing cognitive decline. Our program focuses on connection, routine, and meaningful activities that enhance quality of life while providing respite for caregivers.
Our primary resources include a thoughtfully designed indoor space, activity materials (games, puzzles, arts and crafts), and kitchen facilities for preparing light meals and snacks. Daily operations involve structured programming such as cognitive enrichment, music, movement, and social interaction, led by trained staff.
We utilize standard office and facility equipment, including computers for administration, HVAC systems for comfort, and cleaning supplies that prioritize health and safety. Our processes emphasize efficient use of energy, waste reduction, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for our community.
Why We're Green
As part of our initial build-out prior to licensure, we intentionally addressed common environmental challenges to align with green business standards from the outset. This included replacing outdated fixtures with energy-efficient LED lighting, installing low-flow plumbing fixtures to reduce water usage, and selecting Energy Star-rated appliances.
We minimized reliance on single-use plastics by implementing reusable dishware, utensils, and activity materials wherever possible. For necessary disposables, we chose compostable or recyclable alternatives. We also established recycling and waste-sorting systems for staff and participants.
Additionally, we selected low-VOC paints, non-toxic cleaning products, and durable, long-lasting furnishings to reduce environmental impact and improve indoor air quality. By integrating these solutions during our rebuild, we avoided the need for retroactive changes and created a more sustainable, health-conscious environment from day one.
